Memorial Service for Jeanne in Brooklyn NY, June 3, 2007

We will have a memorial gathering in Brooklyn, New York
on Sunday June 3 from 2:30-5:30 pm. We are looking forward
to spending time with family, friends and colleagues to
remember Jeanne's impact on the world and on each of us
personally. There will be a few talks about Jeanne from those
who knew her different sides, and we will display items to
remind us of her life and work. There will be time just to
meet each other, and a catered buffet with vegetarian and
non-vegetarian choices. This will not be a religious service;
we are having the unveiling on Memorial Day weekend in
Ann Arbor.

If you have suggestions about memories or items to include,
let us know. Also, if you know others who might like to
attend, please invite them. We do ask that you let us know
who is coming by May 27, so we can plan with the caterer.

We will meet in a lovely room in a historic building in
downtown Brooklyn, near the Williamsburg Savings Bank
Building and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Directions
to the South Oxford Space.

There should be plenty of on street parking nearby
on Sunday afternoon.

Thanks to Jeanne's midwifery colleagues for suggesting
this memorial.

One year after her death, we really miss Jeanne and
are looking forward to being with you.

Jeanne is being put on a ventilator

Today Jeanne is being put on a ventilator to help her breathing, and will start receiving dialysis. Her kidneys are not working as a side effect from the anti-viral drugs she has been receiving, and usually this type of drug induced kidney problem will correct itself. But in the meantime her body is accumulating to much fluid which makes her breathing more difficult. The dialysis will help to remove that fluid, and the venilator will help her breath, rest, and maintain her lung capacity.

Please send some healing energy in Jeannes direction while this is going on. We will update this again soon.

Jeanne is still in the ICU. Her pneumonia is getting better along with her breathing, but she is tired and feeling effects from some of the medications she was taking. She has been very confused and groggy, and today has started having some significant kidney problems. This evening they are reviewing all her medications and blood levels, and will start deciding how to approach that tommorow.

Thanks to everyone for the messages, food and good thoughts.

Jeanne is stable and is still in the ICU. There seems to be some improvement, albeit quiet slowly, in her lungs and blood counts. She was a little less groggy today, and was able to eat a few bits of fresh melon to supplement the IV nutrition she is receiving. She was able to spend most of the day breathing with supplemental oxygen but without the machanical assistance of the Bi-Pap machine which is great.

Jeanne is still is the ICU. She slept a little better last night, and while she has continued to be able to breath on her own, using the BiPap machine some, she is also getting more worn out. The pneumonia in her lungs has not spread and it seems like it might be getting a little bit better. Some of her blood counts are up a little as well. She is groggy most of the time, and is still not up for visitors to just drop by at this point, but we will keep you posted.

Jon, Josina and Josh have been rotating shifts to be in the ICU with her 24 hours, so sorry about not returning phone calls or emails. A big thank-you to all the neighbors who have brought us food to the house! If anyone is up for cooking some extra with your dinner and bringing it by the house for us to eat, that would be very much appreciated.
