Jeanne and the Demon Spawn, Day -3

This is Jeanne walking laps on the BMT Unit. In her tired and annoyed moments, she has been refering to her children as "Demons of Cheeriness" (DoC) during their attempts to boost her spririts. The DoC also have photoshop.

Due to their low immune systems BMT patients have to stay inside the unit. There is a small sign near the nurses station that explains 15.8 full laps equals a mile, but you have to do a few extra if you walk the shorter laps that pass the fish tanks.

Jeanne is feeling quite tired but is still walking a mile a day. Today is the last day of the chemotherapy and the transplant is still on for Tuesday.

Dear Jeanne:

It is so good to see your picture in the hallway of the hospital. You have walked more than I did today. I must remember that I need to keep up with you about minimum of a mile a day. The Sunday New York Times gets in the way when I start in the morning. There are far too many pages to read.

Have been thinking about you and it is so good to see your pictures on the blog. Will be with you in spirit always.

Jeanne

Best of luck from Brooklyn and all of us at 295 Clinton Street.

As you have probably read in the NY Times, you should probably give back those Drums you bought in Park Slope.

That is our version of NY humor but not as funny as the non-racist, non-sexist gentile jokes.

Kenny, Philippa and the girls
We are working on such one liners as... A T-cell walked into a bar...Ouch!!!!

Hi Jeanne,

What a journey you are on. I am sending warm (literally) thoughts and love to you from San Francisco. The blog site has been great to get an understanding (even just a bit) of what you are experiencing.

Take good care.

Love, Holly

Hi Jeanne,
Today is the beginning.
Let all the wonderful doctors, nurses, and the DoC tend to your every need. All you need to do is rest, and let nature take it's course. Everyone is with you in spirit and prayers. Thinking of you always. Love, G

Jeanne,
My thoughts and prayers are with you today as the healthy bone marrow finds its way to its new home and starts giving you health and a long life.
It has been a long path to today, and from here on out you only have to integrate this change and make it your own.
Take care and trust your body's wisdom to take it from here.
with love,
Linda Diane
PS -- That much time in a hospital ward sucks. But when will you have another chance to be bored and so idle? Might as well explore it for once in your life...

This is from Gloria:
Jeanne left me her plants to take care of while she's out.
That spider plant has been dormant since I've started watching it for her
over the years for various trips she's gone on. In fact, over they years,
it has shrunk is size. But today, there is a tiny new little shoot coming
from one of the stalks. I just noticed it. Isn't it a coincidence that
Jeanne is having her procedure today, and this tiny new little life
sprouted!! I think this means something, I really do.
