Jeanne Entered The Hospital Today, Visiting Info
Jeanne was admitted to the hospital today, and with the help of her family moved into her room. We decorated the walls with photos, poems, and beautiful prints from Jeanne's trips to southern Africa. Her room has a large window which gets nice light. Today began the low intensity chemotherapy that is part of her Bone Marrow Transplant regime, which is designed to stun her immune system to allow for a successful transplant. Jeanne is feeling optimistic, and had her first surprise visitor this afternoon.
Visiting and Phone Information
She is in Room 7 on the 10th floor of the Webber Building at Harper Hospital. (10 Webber North) Her room phone number is 313-745-6650. Feel free to give a call!
She can also receive visits every day from 10am until 8pm. Visitors are welcome of course. Harper Hospital is located at 3900 John R St, Detroit. There is a parking lot for visitors located at the intersection of John R St and Alexendrine St W, and the entrance to Harper Hospital is right next to the parking garage.
You can get a visitors pass at the welcome desk, and the elevators are just past the desk down the hall. Take the elevator to the 10th floor, and enter the BMT unit though the sliding glass doors and come on down to Room 7.
Jeanne has limited access to the computer at this point and is not checking her email. You can leave comments on this blog and we will be sure they get to her.

Hi Jeanne! Renee and I just saw your lovely daughter at the Y. She brought us up to date on some of your escapades today, like getting there two hours late with two carloads of options - tapes, CD's DVD's, computers and all the other accoutrments. we look forward to invading your space. Love love John and Renee
Dear Jeanne:
Thanks for the updates. Karen Burgin and I have been talking about you and hope all is well with your transplant. I have been thinking about you daily and we will be with you in spirit.
Karen and I went to Columbia University's play performance on Valentine's day for the celebration of "The Vagina Monologues" performance at 168 Street campus. The medical students, midwifery students and others were in this play, it was a wonderful evening. I am sure Josina would enjoy this excellent work by Eve Ensler. The cold weather has prevented me from doing my morning walk in the park and in the botanical garden. Nancy Campu and I will visit the Museum of Natural History on Wednesday since it is an indoor activity. I have not been in that museum for two decades.
Let me know if I should telephone you to cheer you up? Ask Josina to e-mail me about this.
It is so good to see your picture on the bulletin board. will write again.

Hi Jeanne,
Glad to hear the first two days have gone well for you. That's a good sign for the rest of your stay there, I'm sure of it! My thoughts are with you always, along with my wishes and prayers for your speedy recovery after a most successful transplant procedure. I will keep in touch, and hopefully come by for a visit soon too! Love G
