Transplant Day

Jeanne began receiving her Bone Marrow Tranplant tonight about 8:30 surrounded by friends and family. The transplant is going well (still dripping), and Jeanne is in high spirits despite a long day. It usually takes a few weeks before the stem cells engraft into her marrow and start producing, and we will keep you posted.
Jeanne is very thankful for all the love, support and kindness people have been sending her and her family. She is also grateful to the anonymous stem cell donor whose cells she is receiving, and to all those who have donated blood, platelets and stem cells.
While she doesn't have energy to return all her phone calls, she is happy to be receive the messages. Her spirits were boosted this evening with a surprise visit from old friends from the west coast, and she appreicates whatever support people have to offer during the next few weeks that she is in the hospital.

Jeanne,
It's wonderful to see you in these pictures surrounded by family and friends. And with all that is happening around you, and how tired you must be, you're still smiling! Keep your spirits up by knowing how much we all care about you. Rest well, and let the miracle begin.
Love, G
Jeanne,
Thank you so much for allowing us to be a small part of your experience through this site. I continue to send you positive thoughts and blessings and am looking forward to a healthy spring. I think the sprout mentioned by Gloria is a sign that the Spring and all the new growth and health that is brings is very near for you.
All of the best. LKL
Greetings Jeanne from one of your old stomping grounds ... 6th Avenue in Park Slope!
After e-mailing her to get news about your progress to wellness, Maryann sent me the link to this wonderful blog.
I've shared it with all @ Downstate who know & love you. And I have personally spent loads of time admiring the photos of you with those "all grown up" DoCs of yours! Also, awed by all the beautiful comments & support from your many admirers.
Will definitely be checking in regularly to follow your healing process.
Please know that much love and all good vibes are being sent your way.
Keep the faith!
With much love, hugs & thoughts of you daily,
Suzanne
Hi Jeanne,
I hope you are resting well as your healing process takes place. Remember how much we all care, think, and pray for you each and every day. You're such an inspiration to me, and so many others. I didn't want another day to go by without me checking in, and sending more good thoughts and wishes for your speedy recovery. You're in my thoughts, always. Love, G
p.s. And to Jon, Josh and Josina: (aka, the "DoC"!!)
You rest and take care too!! Jeanne needs you all to stay healthy and strong. You are all wonderful.
Jeanne:
We continue to pray for your healing and recovery. Knowing you, full effort without compromise is being given by you and your loving family. I smiled a few days ago when, after receiving an announcement about a grant opportunity for the clinic, I reflexively began to include you in the mailing to the PIDC staff. However, you have much more important fish to fry so no boring federal grantspeak bedtime reading for you: I will pick you brain after we get it! ;)
Take care.
